Terms of Service
Last updated: May 8, 2026These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ErikEverywhere.com (“the site”) and the services offered through it. By using the site, subscribing to the newsletter, purchasing a book, or submitting a Dispatch, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
The site offers four things:
- A free email newsletter
- Books for purchase (sold and delivered through Payhip)
- Dispatch, a paid research service that answers specific questions about life across borders
- Free articles and writing about reinvention, expat life, and related topics
Each of these is governed by these Terms, with additional service-specific terms below where relevant.
Use of the site
You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not:
- Republish the site’s writing (in full or substantial part) without written permission
- Use the site’s content to train AI models without written permission
- Scrape the site or use automated tools to extract content
- Use the site to send spam, harass others, or do anything illegal
- Attempt to access parts of the site you don’t have permission to access
The writing on the site, including all articles, books, Dispatches, and other content, is the intellectual property of Erik Blair unless otherwise noted. Brief quotation with attribution is permitted under fair use principles. Anything more requires permission.
The newsletter
The newsletter is free. You can subscribe by entering your email on the site or through any signup form connected to the newsletter. By subscribing, you agree to receive emails from ErikEverywhere.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every newsletter email. Once unsubscribed, you’ll stop receiving newsletter emails. Your email address may be retained on a suppression list to ensure we don’t accidentally email you again.
We don’t sell, rent, or share newsletter subscriber lists with third parties.
Books
Books are sold through Payhip, which handles the transaction, payment, and delivery. By purchasing a book, you also agree to Payhip’s terms of service.
What you’re buying. When you purchase a book, you receive a license to read it for personal use. You don’t own the copyright. You may not redistribute, resell, or share the book file with others.
Refunds. Because books are digital products delivered immediately upon purchase, refund requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. If a book file is corrupted or doesn’t deliver properly, we’ll fix it or refund you. If you simply changed your mind, refund decisions are at our discretion. Email erik@erikeverywhere.com to request a refund.
Dispatch
Dispatch is a paid research service. You submit a specific question about life across borders, we research it using current sources, and we deliver a written answer within five working days (Standard Dispatch, $89) or 48 hours (Priority Dispatch, $189).
What Dispatch is. A research deliverable. Each Dispatch is a written answer of approximately 800–1,500 words, sourced and dated, organized into six sections (the question, short answer, full picture, numbers, what to do next, and sources).
What Dispatch is not. Dispatch is not legal advice, financial advice, tax advice, immigration advice, medical advice, or any other form of professional counsel. We are researchers, not licensed professionals. If your question requires a licensed professional, we’ll tell you, and we’ll recommend ways to find one. Decisions you make based on a Dispatch are your own.
Currency of information. Information in a Dispatch reflects research conducted at the time of delivery. Visa rules, tax thresholds, exchange rates, costs of living, and other facts change over time. Information accurate when delivered may be outdated later. We date every fact and source for this reason. We don’t guarantee that information remains current after delivery.
No warranty of outcomes. We research questions to the best of our ability using current sources, but we don’t guarantee specific outcomes. We don’t guarantee that following the suggestions in a Dispatch will result in any particular result, that visa applications will be approved, that costs will match estimates, or that any specific event will occur.
Refund and revision policy. Each Dispatch is custom research, not a stocked product. Refund requests are evaluated case by case:
- If we’re unable to deliver a Dispatch (we couldn’t find adequate sources, or the question is outside our scope), we’ll refund the full amount.
- If we deliver a Dispatch and you believe it didn’t meaningfully address your question, contact us within 14 days of delivery. We’ll review the Dispatch and either revise it, deliver follow-up research, or refund some or all of the cost, at our discretion based on the specific situation.
- We don’t offer refunds because the answer wasn’t what you hoped to hear, because circumstances changed after delivery, or because the information became outdated over time.
Submission limitations. We reserve the right to decline questions that are out of scope (legal advice, medical advice, anything requiring a licensed professional, anything illegal, anything we can’t research adequately). When we decline, we refund the full amount.
Anonymized publication. By default, we may publish anonymized versions of Dispatches to a public archive on the site. “Anonymized” means we remove your name, contact details, exact financial figures, identifying location specifics, and any other information that could reasonably identify you. Before publishing, we send the anonymized version to you for approval. If you decline publication, the Dispatch stays private.
Confidentiality. The information you share with us as part of a Dispatch submission is treated as confidential. We don’t share submission details with third parties beyond what’s necessary to research the question (looking up public information, consulting sources, etc.).
Payments
Payments are processed through Stripe (for Dispatch and direct site purchases) and Payhip (for books). Both providers are responsible for the security of payment information. We don’t store credit card details on our own systems.
By making a purchase, you authorize the relevant payment processor to charge the listed amount. Prices are in US dollars unless otherwise noted.
Account and access
Some services on the site (Dispatch, in particular) may require an account through MemberPress. You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or threaten the security or integrity of the site.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ErikEverywhere and Erik Blair are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or its services, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or damages resulting from decisions you make based on information from the site.
Our total liability for any claim related to the site or its services is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. For free services (newsletter, free articles), our liability is limited to $100.
This limitation applies regardless of whether the claim is based on contract, negligence, or any other legal theory. Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site and its services are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. We don’t warrant that information on the site is accurate, complete, or current at the moment you read it.
Changes to the services
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site or its services at any time. If we discontinue a paid service entirely without delivering what you paid for, we’ll refund the unfulfilled portion.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced in the newsletter. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the place where Erik Blair maintains his primary residence, currently Thailand. Disputes will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes will be resolved through the appropriate legal channels in that jurisdiction.
If you’re in a jurisdiction that grants you specific consumer protection rights (such as the European Union or California), nothing in these Terms is intended to override those rights.
