Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 8, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information ErikEverywhere.com (“the site”) collects, how it’s used, and what choices you have about it. The site is operated by Erik Blair from Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Who runs this site

ErikEverywhere.com is operated by Erik Blair as a sole proprietorship. The site offers a free newsletter, books for purchase, a research service called Dispatch, and a collection of writing about life across borders.

What information we collect

The site collects information in three ways: information you give us directly, information collected automatically when you visit, and information from services we use.

Information you give us directly. When you subscribe to the newsletter, you provide your email address. When you submit a Dispatch question, you provide your name, email address, your situation, and your question. When you purchase a book through Payhip, you provide payment information directly to Payhip, we don’t store it. When you contact us through the contact form, you provide your name, email, and message.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the site automatically collects basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser type, operating system, the pages you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the referring site. This information is collected through standard web server logs and analytics tools.

Information from third-party services

We use several services to run the site, and those services collect their own information governed by their own privacy policies. The main ones:

  • FluentCRM stores email addresses, names, and engagement data (whether you opened an email, clicked a link, etc.) for newsletter subscribers and customers.
  • Stripe processes payments for Dispatch and stores payment information securely. We never see your full credit card number.
MemberPress manages access to paid content and stores account information for purchasers.
  • Payhip processes book purchases and handles payment, billing, and delivery for ebooks. Payhip collects its own information under its own privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics (if used) collects anonymized data about how visitors use the site.

How we use your information

We use the information collected to:

  • Send you the newsletter you subscribed to
  • Deliver the Dispatch you purchased
  • Process payments for purchases
  • Respond to your questions through the contact form
  • Improve the site based on how visitors use it
  • Send you occasional updates about new books, services, or significant changes (only if you’ve subscribed to receive them)
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your information. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes. The only third parties who receive your information are the service providers listed above, and only to the extent needed to operate the site and deliver what you’ve requested.

Cookies

The site uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to make the site work properly and to understand how visitors use it. Specifically:

  • Essential cookies keep you logged in if you have an account, remember items in your cart, and make the site function. These cannot be turned off.
  • Analytics cookies track how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These can be disabled through your browser settings or, where applicable, through a cookie consent banner.

You can disable cookies through your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work properly without them.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then we keep your email on a suppression list to make sure we don’t accidentally email you again.
  • Dispatch customers: indefinitely, because we may publish anonymized versions of the answer and need records of what was delivered. Personal details (name, email, identifying situation specifics) are removed before publication.
  • Contact form submissions: typically kept for one year after the conversation ends, then deleted.
  • Purchase records: kept for at least seven years for tax and legal compliance.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have certain rights about your personal information. These include:

  • Access: You can ask what information we have about you.
  • Correction: You can ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: You can ask us to delete your information, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Unsubscribe: You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
  • Portability: You can ask for a copy of your information in a portable format.
  • Objection: You can object to certain uses of your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email erik@erikeverywhere.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.

If you’re in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you have additional rights under the GDPR or CCPA. We honor those rights regardless of where you live.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable security practices to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the entire site, secure hosting, and strong authentication for backend access. We also rely on the security practices of the services we use (Stripe, FluentCRM, MemberPress, Payhip), which are industry-standard providers with their own security commitments.

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

Children

The site is not intended for children under 16. We don’t knowingly collect information from children.

If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact erik@erikeverywhere.com and we’ll delete it.

International transfers

The site is operated from Thailand and uses service providers based in the United States and Europe. By using the site, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in these countries.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the newsletter.
